How to Make Paper Snowflakes

Making paper snowflakes is a super fun activity to try at home with the kids. If you are looking for ways to keep the whole family occupied at home without spending money, this activity is perfect.

Kids love arts and crafts, and these are really enjoyable to make. The beauty of this activity lies in its simplicity and the ease with which you can make something beautiful in next to no time. Kids will love snipping away at the paper and then unfolding it to reveal their unique snowflake design.

Children of all ages can get involved in this Christmas craft and still create impressive snowflakes with a little help from an adult.

Step 1:

Firstly, you will need to gather together your materials – the good news is that you need very little for this activity!

You will need:

  • Scissors or child-safe scissors for younger children
  • Sheets of square paper, or A4 paper cut into a square shape

TOP TIP: Cut out different-sized paper squares to create snowflakes in a range of sizes.

Step 2:

Take your square piece of paper and fold it into a triangle. Next, fold the paper into a second triangle, and then repeat for the third time. This will leave you with a triangle that is folded into thirds. Take your triangle and trim the excess folded paper from the top

Step 3:

After folding your paper into a triangle, it is time to start cutting. This is where you can get really creative! You can snip any shape that you would like into the triangle, but you will need to ensure that none of your cuts go right across to the other side.

Once you are satisfied with the shapes that you have cut into the triangle, it is time for the exciting part! Carefully unfold the triangle to reveal your snowflake. Your snowflakes are then ready to display.

TOP TIP: If you are feeling extra creative, you can decorate your snowflakes to make them look even better. You could add glitter, sequins, or even colour them in.
